Skipton & Craven Action For Disability
Canal Boat
SCAD’s “ ENDEAVOUR” SCAD’s “ENDEAVOUR” is a wide beam boat
adapted to take parties of a variety of disabilities on a day cruise on the
Leeds and Liverpool canal. Wheelchair access to the boat is via a wide
boarding platform on to the front deck. The cabin and toilet facilities are
also designed to accommodate passengers using a wheel chair. The boat is
fitted with an internal wheelchair lift for assess to the saloon. The boat can carry up to 12 passengers
(including carers) and will be welcomed aboard by our crew of 4. The cruise
is designed to last about 5 hours and can be arranged for a time convenient
for each party. During the cruise the galley is
available so that passengers can make their own refreshments, with tea and
coffee always on board. Some parties bring their own food, either prepared in
advance or cooked in the galley, while other parties prefer to organise a
"pub lunch" which can be booked in advance. The whole experience is designed to
enable our passengers to enjoy the tranquil pace of life on a beautiful
canal. Travelling at a leisurely canal speed gives everyone time to take in
the details of the wildlife along the way and be part of the fraternity of
other canal users. For more details about our trips, why
not contact the Scad office and even arrange a visit to the boat before you make a
booking for your party. Although Scad is a Skipton based charity, some of our
users do come from further a field than the Craven District. UK Registered Charity No. 01092511 |
